Do we need an alarm?
Yes. PPG3 requires an oil level alarm and recommends a silt/sludge alarm.Top
Where can we get extra cable ?
Assuming this means extra cable length for the alarm probe this may not be required as the unit already comes with 5m of cable – if more is required please see technical sales.

Can we connect the alarm to a phone line or a flashing beacon?
Yes, there are two volt free contacts (one normally open, one normally closed) in the alarm control box for this purpose.Top
Can I discharge into a water course?

Where should the junction box be fitted?

Can we supply a solar powered alarm?
Yes, however, it should be noted that this unit is in fact battery operated, and the solar panel trickle charges the battery.

What is the difference between a Full Retention and a Bypass separator?
Risk. A full retention unit must be used for a high risk site, a bypass unit can be used on a low risk site.Top
Why do we need 10,000ltrs capacity for a Forecourt area separator?
Storage volume. Any separator installed where a re-fuelling point is located must have a minimum oil storage capacity of 7600ltrs.Top

Does the unit require venting?
Yes. According to BS8301(HSG41)
The ventilation pipe should be as short as practicable and be terminated not less than 2.5m above paving level nor less than 1m above the head of an openable window or other opening into a building within a horizontal distance of 3m. Also vents must not be interconnected or joined below ground.

Does the unit require a concrete backfill?
Yes, see installation guidelines. With the only exception for forecourt units within the confines of the M25.

Do we supply covers?
No. Proprietary covers may be purchased from your local builders merchant.Top
What is the difference between class 1 and Class 2 separators?
Quality of outgoing effluent. Class 1 standard is less than 5ppm of hydrocarbons in the effluent, class 2 standard is less than 100 PPM of hydrocarbons is the effluent, under test conditions.

Why do we need an Isophalic lining?

How do we size wash down separators?
Dependant on the flow rate entering the unit.Top
Why do we need a car wash silt trap?
A car wash silt trap may aid further downstream separators in taking out large amounts of silt/sludge prior to the separator.Top
Do we need an alarm for a wash down unit ?

Is 19,000L the largest unit available?
No. Tank capacities are currently up to 80,000ltr in a single tank.Top
